What the video review checks

Opening and hook

Viewers decide in the first seconds. We check for a black or static first frame, how long until the first words, slow intros ("hey guys, welcome back…"), and whether the first 30 seconds deliver what the title promises.

Audio

YouTube plays videos at about −14 LUFS. We measure integrated loudness (ITU-R BS.1770), peaks, clipping and silent gaps, so your video isn't too quiet next to others or distorted.

Pacing and visuals

Scene cuts per minute, frozen stretches, black frames, very dark footage, and a contact sheet of the whole video. For Shorts we overlay the areas covered by the title and buttons, and check whether the ending loops back into the start.

Speech, script and monetization risk

The optional speech check transcribes your video in the browser and flags swearing (especially in the first seconds), sensitive topics that can limit ads, filler words, speaking pace, and numbers and claims worth fact-checking.

Title, description, chapters and thumbnail

Title length and truncation, ALL CAPS and clickbait, description opening, hashtags (over 60 means YouTube ignores them all), chapter format (start at 0:00, at least 3, each 10+ seconds), tag length, and a full thumbnail check.

Shorts vs long videos

A vertical or square video up to 3 minutes is a Short. Longer vertical videos upload as regular videos. Videos 8 minutes or longer can carry mid-roll ads. The review adapts its checks to the format it detects.

The review runs on WebCodecs in your browser: Chrome, Edge and recent Safari/Firefox work best. Very large 4K files take longer. Sources: Advertiser-friendly guidelines · Video chapters · Hashtags · Recommended upload encoding settings.
